In my photographic work, I have long been drawn to forest myths. The legends and fairy tales I grew up with in the Black Forest have accompanied me ever since. Even as a child, the forest held a strange duality for me – an eerie sense of threat, and at the same time, an inexplicable fascination.

The forest has many faces. How we encounter it is always intertwined with our own inner state.

My series Silent Forest shows the forest of my childhood home in winter.
Shrouded in fog, it is barely visible – veiled, withdrawn, and only just perceptible.
